Do you understand the software insurance brokers use?

We take time to understand your specific setup before we start, so we know your environment properly. Where you have a support agreement with a software vendor, that vendor remains your primary support contact for issues within their platform. What we do is act as your IT partner in those conversations. Issues get resolved faster when your IT provider can communicate directly with the software vendor on your behalf, providing accurate context about your environment, cutting through the technical back-and-forth, and making sure the right information reaches the right people quickly. Most clients find that having us in that conversation speeds up resolution considerably compared to handling it alone.

What does the NZ Privacy Act mean for our brokerage?

Insurance brokers collect and hold sensitive personal and financial information on behalf of clients. Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have a legal obligation to take reasonable steps to protect that information from unauthorised access or disclosure. If a breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, you must notify both the Privacy Commissioner and the affected individuals. Getting your IT security right is not just a technical decision - it is a compliance and professional liability decision.

Our cyber insurer is asking us about our security controls. Can you help?

Yes - and this is something we do regularly. Most cyber insurance policies now require specific controls to be demonstrably in place: MFA, endpoint protection, regular tested backups, staff training, and documented incident response procedures. We can audit your current setup against those requirements, close any gaps, and provide the documentation your insurer needs. We can also help you work toward SMB1001 Gold certification, which gives you a recognised third-party standard to point to.

Can demonstrating good security actually help us win clients?

Increasingly, yes. Corporate clients and larger referral partners are beginning to ask their advisers and brokers about data security practices before signing. Being able to point to verified controls - or a recognised certification - is a differentiator that most of your competitors cannot yet offer. How quickly can you respond when something goes wrong?

We have formal SLAs in place for all managed services clients. Every support request is logged, triaged on receipt, and assigned a priority. Response times are guaranteed based on that priority: Critical (systems down, active security incident) 1 hour; High (significant impact on operations) 2 hours; Normal (single user affected, workaround available) 4 hours; Low (general queries, minor issues) 8 hours. In practice, most urgent calls are picked up within 15 minutes. Critical issues are not sitting in a queue. They are flagged immediately and handled first. You will always know the status of your request.
